A Marina Built Around Working Boats

Phuket Boat Lagoon is one of the island’s longest-established marina complexes, officially opening for business in 1994. Its present-day character still reflects that working-marina history: boats are not only moored here, but lifted, stored, repaired, supplied and maintained within the same site.

The marina currently provides 180 wet berths, alongside substantial hardstand and dry-stack capacity. The wet marina accommodates vessels up to 32 metres, with electricity and water provided at the berths.

This makes Boat Lagoon different from a marina understood mainly as a waterfront destination. Much of the activity here is operational, with boat owners, technicians, marine businesses and service crews sharing the site with visitors using its restaurants, shops and other facilities.

Why the Approach Channel Matters

Access by water is one of the practical details that should be understood before using Phuket Boat Lagoon. The marina’s own berth-booking guidance tells arriving vessels to check the tide table and weather conditions, or contact the marina office, before entering the approach channel.

This is not a minor technical note. It explains why Boat Lagoon publishes tide information as part of its marina resources and why arrival planning by sea is different from simply driving to the complex by road.

For visiting boat owners, current conditions and marina guidance matter more than relying on an old description of the channel. Tide information changes continuously, so Rowmere links to the operator’s current resources rather than reproducing a fixed tide table on this page.

Boat Storage and Repair at Scale

The boatyard is a significant part of Phuket Boat Lagoon. Its hardstand can accommodate 160 boats, while the dry-stack facility provides 24 additional storage bays.

Boat handling is supported by three travel lifts rated at 40, 80 and 120 tonnes, together with a six-tonne forklift, a wide concrete boat ramp and shore-side utility connections. The surrounding marine businesses add another layer, supplying repair, maintenance, equipment and specialist services without requiring every task to be handled by the marina itself.

Alongside these working facilities, Boat Lagoon contains restaurants, shops, offices, a resort and other services. The result is a mixed-use marine complex where boatyard activity and everyday commercial uses occupy the same destination.
